Two years of blogging and a Branch gift !

Hi friends!

WOW! I’ve almost skipped the date, but this month Tinker Code (previously True Volumetrics 😉 ) has its second birthday. I’m very happy because this blog marks the same time I started with Blender as a green dev (and I still consider myself as a newbie).

This blog has seen many of the first draft of things that later with the help of the excellent Blender devs and the community became little jewels and I’m very happy for that.

A few years ago, when I saw a CG movie with FX’s or a 3D app capable of incredible effects I thought it was plain magic, believe me, I had NEVER imagined myself entering this world, but then I learned that the only thing I needed was passion, time and the same curiosity that a child has when he breaks his loved toy car to see the engine:

You learn to swim in the water, so my best advice to the ones that want to be blender devs is permanently in the title of this blog: Tinkering blender code 😉

And what better present than a shinny new branch?  Thanks to Theeth and Jahka (and the rest of the devs) I now have a Blender branch to make public my tinkerings and recent developments.   YAY!!!!!!!

https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/bf-blender/branches/branch-farsthary/

Two warnings I have to make:

1rst: I don’t have a speedy connection (broadband? what is that? 😉 ) so it will not be updated like the trunk 😉

2nd: It will be a highly experimental branch!!!!

Having say that, I’m going to celebrate today 🙂

Cheers  Farsthary

it’s exactly what we all want from you 🙂 🙂 😉 an experimental branch where you can put everything your creativity could do and bring Blender out of its bounds!!!

well.. we want you to merge something too somewhere 😀 but first of all experimental, yes!!!
    Big, big congratulations!!

  14. Congratulation! Cool work!

I don’t know where to ask, so ask here. I am a total newbie in Blender. Near two weeks of studying. I interested in 3d mathematical visualisations. Want to create educational films about math.

Now i trying to write script that creates objects formed by a function of a type (x,y,z) -> bool . It gives big variety of forms, mandelbulb for example. But my marching cubes algorithm is very unefficient ( before i try to write same program in C++, and OpenGL, but now i thing that Blender have better UI, and Python is better language).

After googling i found that you also add voxels functionality to Blender.

But hard to find how you do it, or where i can download scripts and tutorial s on voxel rendering.

And how you draw lines in scene? Is some tutorials better than http://www.blender.org/documentation/242PythonDoc/API_intro-module.html?

Sorry for lots of questions, and my poor English. But even one starting link would be useful for me. What you first read to do this?
