LiveClay , polygon beauty

Hi all 🙂

LiveClay is nearly getting out of beta soon, we have implemented lots of new things that will do wonders for the topology, including the much awaited Reduce tool and an advanced (and fast ;)) smoothing and relaxation tool that takes fully advantage of subcells : FastSmooth

Enjoy 🙂

  1. Great job, looks wonderful!! I can only hope that some day you find the time to port something similar over to Blender. Gotta work to eat, though. Keep it up!

  3. No symmetry with reduce ? I hope it’s because it’s not implemented yet…
Otehrwise I can’t wait to get my hands on the new build, I’m pretty sure it’s the beginning of a decade of joy 🙂

Watch very carefully the video, reduce symmetry is there. Raul just takes the symmetry off quite soon after starting to use reduce tool so it may look like that it dosen’t work.

        I can’t wait seriously… gimme !

    2. Reduce work perfectly with symmetry just as the rest of the tools, it was an unhappy coincidence I disable it in the video 😉

Very impressive video. And I think that you are improving as a artist too 🙂

    1. I am really amazed about the quality of the stroke!
I hope there will be brushes with great artistic feeling too (which is one of the thing I prefer in sculptris).
Just one thing, there will be a strength control for the reduce tool ? (Like 0 = no effect, 100 = max reduction)

      1. Yes, the detail slider control the reduce effect as for subdivision
        More brushes coming soon 🙂

It’s one of the features that i look forward to the most in blender development.

  7. Maybe i’m wrong but I believe that can’t be done in Blender until BMesh is implemented…

Agree. Making it right now would mean that you need to re-code everything for Bmesh. Would not be so smart.

  8. A dense mesh is when you go into wireframe mode and still see the fully shaded mesh 😛

  9. Can I merge meshes into a voxel volume or into a polygon-mass that LiveClay handles now and reduce the polycount of my merge with LiveClay?

  10. Is there a chance for a grab brush that works like sculptris grab? Out of all grab implementations/variations Sculptris one has the best feel for me.

    1. Sculptris grab is snake hook, as I understood.

      1. And yes, It’s the best grab brush i ever uses aswell…

  11. It’s not quite snakehook. The reason it feels kinda like it is because it creates new geo if you drag it far away allowing yout to still have the what grabbed to drags even further but i find it behaves differently from say Zbrush snake hook.

  12. But is it different then blenders snake hook?
